This Sunday afternoon, I was sitting in my car, going through my phone, and suddenly jumped from a knock on my window. I turned to look, my heart was pounding, it was a young girl trying to get my attention. She asked if I could put the window down, as paranoid as I am of anything and anyone, I said a little prayer in my head and lowered it. I was a little nervous because I couldn’t see what she had in her hands, in addition to that, I had Mia (my daughter) and Khloe (my niece) sleeping in the back seat. She said she didn’t mean to scare me, she just wanted to know if I had some spare change to help her raise money for Breast Cancer. Unfortunately, I didn’t have any cash on me, so I apologized and wished her good luck. She replied “being that I scared you, and I didn’t mean to, I’m going to give these to you anyway” she handed me three Rice Krispies, one for each person in the car. I said “thank you sweety, but I can’t accept them, I don’t have any cash and you can sell them to someone else that can help your cause”. Her response blew my mind, she said “people don’t make me do anything I don’t want to do, I do things because I want to do them, and I want to give these to you, so here” I was speechless. In that moment, I was shook that she gave me the candy with nothing in exchange, but even more surprised because I’ve heard that saying from someone I love dearly and admire.
